毛糸一本で目論む世界征服
生物界にテリトリーというものが存在するように、人間が生活していくうえでも必ずテリトリーが存在する。人間は社会生活のなかで、ひとつひとつの事象と空間を自分のものへと征服することによって、自己の存在意義を示そうとする。
それが組織となり国家となったとき、征服という意識が争いを生じさせる。
私もそんな組織や国家という枠に生きる人間のひとり。しかしそんな枠を超えて、世界の人々とコミュニケーションをとりたい。
世界が温かく、繋がることを願う。
私は弱く儚い存在ではあるが、私には糸と針という武器がある。そしてManGlobeという武器がいる。
ManGlobeとは私が創造して糸を編みこんだ小地球であり、私の願う世界を創っていくうえでの大切なパートナーである。
その武器とパートナーを自在に操り、私は一本の糸で、身の回りを編み包む。訪れた街の一角、出会った人、空間。一本の糸は対象物に応じて自在に面となり、包みこむ。
私の手によるそれらの仕事は、それを発見した者によってさらに形を変えるかもしれない。なぜなら編みものはまず人間の触覚を刺激する。誰もがその温もり肌触りを確かめたくなる。そして編地は変幻自在で儚いものだ。誰かが編地の糸端を引っ張るかもしれないし違う場所に移動させるかもしれない。しかしそれは作品を介した私と他者とのコミュニケーションそのものである。一本の糸から始まったコミュニケーションが世界を編み包んだとき、私の願う世界が完成する。
私の作品は糸を使ったネットワーク作品であり、私の糸が増殖していくインスタレーションは、観る者と観る者とを繋いでいくコミュニケーションアートである。
Taking over the world with a single woolen yarn
We consider about territory just as same as animate nature. People always try to show their meaning of life through conquering each and every phenomenon and space into their hands.
When it becomes to organization or state, the sense of conquest brings us into conflicts.
I'm also an individual who belongs to organization and state. Although I also wish to have communication with people all over the world beyond restriction.
I hope if the world connected with each other warmly and gently.
I'm weak, and transient being, but I have my needle and woolen yarn. I also have my ManGlobe.
ManGlobe is a woolen globe and I've knitted for my important partner to create my wishful world.
With my needle and woolen yarn along with ManGlobe, I'll knit everything around me. A place where I visited, people who I met, just everything. A single yarn will freely transform into surface, and will wrap up my target.
Maybe my piece will change it's form by the people who found it. Knitting will stimulate the sense of touch, and people can't wait to feel it's gentle texture. Also the fabric is ever-changing and transient. Maybe someone will pull it's yarn, or move it to different place. But I feel those behaviors are communication between people and me, through my workpiece. When those communication had spread all over the world with a single yarn, that will be my wishful world.
My artworks are the network using yarn, and the installation is a communication art between viewers.
